Mladen is Head of the Department for International Economic and Political Relations, within the Institute for International Relations in Zagreb, where he has been based since 1978. He gained his Ph.D. Economics at the University of Zagreb in 1987. From 1964 to1978 he was a journalist and columnist for international economic problems in the daily Vjesnik, Zagreb. He is a Member of the Council for International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia and coordinates numerous research-projects on macroeconomic stabilization in countries in transition and Croatia's international economic relations. He speaks English, German and French.
