Dmitry is an expert on international security and Russian foreign policy. He currently holds the position of Vice President of the PIR Center, one of the leading think tanks dealing with nonproliferation, arms control and international security. Among other projects, he is in charge of the Security Index journal (existing for 15 years and now published by Routledge). Dr. Polikanov is also an Advisor to the Head of the Central Executive Committee of the ruling United Russia Party. He is a regular guest lecturer at the NATO School in Oberammergau. Dr. Polikanov holds the honours university degree from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). Before joining his current employment, he held senior positions in the Moscow Delegation of the ICRC and the All-Russia Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM). He is the author of over 100 publications on NATO-Russia, Russia-EU, and various security issues.
