
Dr. Andrew Cottey is Senior Lecturer and Jean Monnet Chair in European Political Integration in the Department of Government, University College Cork. He is a specialist in international relations, security and European politics and has published widely in these areas. He has been a Research Associate at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), a Visiting Researcher at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and a NATO Research Fellow. He is a member of the governing council of the British American Security Information Council (BASIC). His research and teaching interests include: international relations and global governance; foreign, security and defence policy; European security, including NATO, the EU’s common foreign, security and defence policy and Central and Eastern Europe; conflict prevention and management and the problems of international military intervention; and civil-military relations and democracy.
