Dayton, Ohio, 22 May 2025 - The Deputy Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Lieutenant General Andrew M. Rohling, participated in the Public Forum of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Spring Session, on Thursday, 22nd May. LTG Rohling intervened in a panel discussion on how to bolster the defence industrial base across Europe and North America.

Brussels, NATO HQ, 23 May - The Director General of the NATO International Military Staff (DGIMS), Lieutenant General Janusz Adamczak, welcomed the Director General of the European Union Military Staff (DGEUMS), Lieutenant General Michiel van der Laan, to NATO HQ, for the biannual IMS-EUMS Directors General Conference.

NATO’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood, Mr. Javier Colomina, conducted a high-level visit to Geneva on 22-23 May 2025 – the first by a NATO Senior official since the opening of the NATO Liaison Office to the International Organisations in Geneva in August 2024. His visit underscored NATO’s commitment to dialogue, multilateralism and cooperative security with its partners in the Southern Neighbourhood, ahead of the NATO Summit in The Hague, this June.

On 25 and 26 May 2025, the NATO Secretary General, Mr Mark Rutte, will take part in the 2025 Spring Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NPA) in Dayton, United States.

On 20-21 May 2025, NATO Allies and several Partner nations met in Poland for NATO’s annual Cyber Defence Pledge Conference.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte visited northern Norway on Thursday (22 May 2025), where he met Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide, and Minister of Defence Tore Sandvik. The Secretary General also observed a demonstration of NATO’s multidomain capabilities in the High North.

On Thursday 22 May, Major General Christophe Hintzy from France assumed command of NATO Mission Iraq, at a change of command ceremony in Baghdad. He succeeds Lieutenant General Lucas Schreurs from the Netherlands, who had been in post since May 2024. The ceremony was attended by Iraqi officials, Ambassadors from Allied and partner countries, NATO officials, and other representatives from the international community in Baghdad.

On Wednesday (21 May 2025), NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte welcomed the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof to NATO Headquarters. The leaders held productive discussions on boosting defence spending, support for Ukraine and the upcoming NATO Summit in The Hague.

On Tuesday (20 May 2025), NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte attended the Foreign Affairs Council with EU Defence Ministers. He highlighted the importance of closer NATO-EU relations, in light of the threats from Russia, China’s military build-up, and terrorism.
