NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte concluded a visit to the United States on Friday (25 April) focused on talks with senior US officials, including a meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House.

On Friday (25 April 2025) NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska welcomed young people from across the Alliance to the NATO Youth Summit in Budva, Montenegro. Organised in cooperation with the Atlantic Council of Montenegro, the fifth Youth Summit brought together hundreds of young people for discussions with the Deputy Secretary General and other NATO leaders on critical security issues.

From 23-24 April, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee (CMC), Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, visited Kuwait to meet with the nation’s senior political and military leadership. The trip marked Admiral Cavo Dragone’s first time in the Gulf and his inaugural mission to a member of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI), as CMC. During his stay, he also delivered remarks at the Mubarak Al-Abdullah Joint Command and Staff College (MAJCSC), visited the Salem Al-Sabah Air Base, and received a briefing at the NATO-Istanbul Cooperation Initiative Regional Centre in Kuwait (NIRC).

On 24 and 25 April 2025, the NATO Deputy Secretary General, Ms Radmila Shekerinska, will visit Montenegro.

On 25 April 2025, the NATO Deputy Secretary General, Ms Radmila Shekerinska, will participate in the opening of the NATO Youth Summit. Organised in cooperation with the Atlantic Council of Montenegro, the fifth edition of the NATO Youth Summit will take place in Budva, Montenegro on the 25-26 April 2025. The event brings together young leaders from across NATO member and partner countries.

On 24 and 25 April 2025, the NATO Secretary General, Mr. Mark Rutte, will travel to Washington DC.

On Monday, 28 April 2025, a ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of Germany’s accession to NATO will take place at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

Today (15 April 2025), NATO’s Deputy Secretary General, Radmila Shekerinska, hosted the Chair and members of the Tripartite Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, Željko Komšić, and Denis Bećirović, at NATO Headquarters. They exchanged views with Allied Permanent Representatives on the latest developments in the country and across the region, and on NATO’s partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On Tuesday, 15 April 2025, the NATO Deputy Secretary General, Ms Radmila Shekerinska, will meet with the Chair and members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ms Željka Cvijanović, Mr Željko Komšić and Mr Denis Bećirović at NATO Headquarters, in Brussels.

From 7 to 11 April, representatives from 20 Allied government and national agencies exercised NATO’s ability to coordinate responses to significant malicious cyber activities affecting critical national infrastructures.

On Friday (11 April 2025) NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte participated in a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG) at NATO headquarters. The meeting was hosted by the UK Defence Secretary, John Healey, and the German Minister of Defence, Boris Pistorius.

NATO's Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood, Mr Javier Colomina, travelled to Tunis on 7-8 April 2025. This was his first visit to Tunisia in his new capacity. He met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Ali Nafti, the Minister of National Defence Khaled Sehili, and the National Security Advisor to the President of the Tunisian Republic Abderraouf Atallah, to discuss NATO's relations with Tunisia, and exchange views on regional security issues.

Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska welcomed the EU Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas to the NATO Headquarters on Thursday (10 April 2025) for a meeting with Allies in the North Atlantic Council.

NATO’s North Atlantic Council and southern neighbourhood partners recently met within the Mediterranean Dialogue (MD) and Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) frameworks, to take stock of their partnerships and share views on regional security challenges, especially in the Sahel and the Gulf regions, respectively.

NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, made his first trip to the Indo-Pacific in this capacity this week (8-9 April 2025) where he was hosted by the Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba, in Tokyo, on Wednesday. They took stock of the long-standing partnership between NATO and Japan, agreeing a joint statement that aims to boost this relationship even further.

On Wednesday 9th April, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee (CMC), Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, visited Albania and met with the highest political and military leadership. Admiral Cavo Dragone’s visit followed the 16th anniversary of the country joining the Alliance. He also delivered a lecture to the Defence Security College in Tirana.
